A place called Home

Last month, when catching Strays was a physically sloooow process due to an annoying back injury that kept me from sitting still for a longer period of time, I - always the optimist - decided to make the best of it and finally tackle a long-delayed mission: to bring my beloved diorama room out of storage 💕
(Because.. pre-COVID my Little Bohemians used to travel around in their vendor wagon, but of course they also have a more permanent spot that they call 'Home' - from where they run the "Vagabond Strays" shelter, and now faithfully quarantine themselves.)

I built this room in 2004, as part of a much bigger 3-floor, 1/6 scale Blythe doll mansion. Lack of space eventually made me take that down, but I kept one room to mess around and play with. Because my love for dollhouses and miniatures never fades.. space or not! 😁

In the past years I have set up (and taken down) Edwardian rooms for my Ball Jointed Dolls in 1/3 scale, a dusty attic and a sorcerer's laboratory in 1/6 scale, and even a 1/48 scale manor - a mini dollhouse for a dollhouse 🏡
I like that those rooms' spirits still live on in this room, through props and paraphernalia; some gifted, some thrifted, and some handmade.. but all tiny treasures and keepsakes.

So at this little sanctuary, my girls and the Strays find a welcoming and safe haven where they can make music and play games, listen to stories by a crackling fire, and whip up an excellent borscht 🍲
