A family gift II

AfricanPenguin.jpg

Other than my sister-in-law (see previous blog post), my brother doesn't have a job in nature and hardly ever comes in contact with wildlife.
He is editor-in-chief of a Dutch music magazine, and the only animals he might run into would probably be Arctic Monkeys 😉

But he was very clear about his all-time favorite critter. When I asked him what felted animal he would like as a birthday gift, he immediately broke out a grin and said: a penguin!
And more specified: a penguin with a sled! 😂 (he's weird like that)

Now there are many species of those amusing aquatic birds, from the tall majestic Emperor penguin to the dwarfish Little Blue penguin - but I opted for this charming, midsize African penguin (Spheniscus demersus), that only lives along the rocky coastline of southwest Africa.
So the poor thing likely has no clue what to do with that sled anyway.. 🐧🛷

Zolala! Blog

Mostly musings and meanderings about my work as a seamstress and miniaturist, with all of the joy and struggle that comes with it.

Hello!

My name is Zo, and I'm endlessly fascinated with all things small: dolls, animals, miniatures, dioramas..
I feel very fortunate to be able to combine them all in my work!
Sewing doll clothes and bringing little critters to life allows me to do what I love every day - and connects me with some really amazing people all over the world.
